Contact Us for Outages 24/7

With storm season upon us, please know that you can contact MLEC 24/7 if you have a power outage.  Whether it’s during normal business hours, or after hours, our employees and dispatch center are here to assist you.  Please contact us by calling 1-800-450-2191 and choosing option 1 for outage reporting or by reporting the outage using our SmartHub app.

MLEC is an Operation Christmas drop-off location

‘Tis the season for giving! Operation Christmas is a program coordinated by volunteers working with Aitkin, Hill City, McGregor, Palisade and Tamarack area businesses and service clubs to collect and distribute Christmas gifts for Aitkin County families in need of help.

Gifts for all ages (0-18) are needed. Gifts should be new and unwrapped. Cash donations are accepted and used to purchase additional gifts.

In 2017, Operation Christmas provided gifts for 585 children and 201 families in Aitkin County.

If you know of, or are, a high school junior - there is an amazing experience available. The Minnesota House of Representatives offers a hands-on week-long experience at our State Capital in St. Paul during the legislative session.   Students learn first-hand the process that is involved in bills becoming laws, meet with their local representative, attend committee meetings, meet other youth from across the state and come home with knowledge that will stay with them for the rest of their life.  Applications are due November 28, 2018

Fiber Internet Project Update

Fiber-to-the-home is the best available Internet service offered, with unlimited data and speeds up to 1 Gbps for both download and upload. Nobody can beat that in the area. Find more info.

If you are in the Phase 1 project area, you can still get connected to XStream fiber even though the free installation period has closed. Contact our office at 1-800-497-5310 for details and a cost estimate.

Not sure if you're in our current project area? Enter your address and answer a few questions to find out if you can get XStream. If you are not in the project build area, you can still express interest for future expansion on this site.
